For many of us, one of the highlights of the day is having a good meal. A positive dining experience should delight the senses and contribute to quality of life, as well as provide an occasion for socializing for those who are able. We strive to provide tasty and nutritious meals through our liberalized approach to dining. This approach, supported by the American Dietetic Association, means that unless indicated, we don’t provide overly restrictive diets. Offering a wide range of interesting and well-prepared food has been shown to increase appetite and contribute to good health.
ALC residences have a qualified registered dietitian who reviews and plans meals according to state and federal guidelines, always keeping in mind that meals should be appealing as well as nutritious.
We offer regular diets in small- and large-portion options, as well as special diets for those who may have difficulty chewing or swallowing. All of our diets follow recommendations for carbohydrate and sodium intake, so are suitable for individuals with diabetes or sodium restrictions.
